A dental implant is made up of two key pieces: a titanium root, and a replacement tooth that fits into the root. Implants are excellent solutions for the loss of teeth due to trauma, periodontal disease, or other reasons, due to their natural look, function, and feel.
An implant is a better solution than traditional bridgework because it does not require the alteration of neighboring healthy teeth in order to function properly.
There are two types of implants used today:
- In bone - the most typical sort of solution that includes screws, cylinders, or blades that are surgically implanted in the jaw.
- On bone - the implant is positioned on top of the jaw and the prosthesis connects to it through the side of the gum.
Dr. Molinar will evaluate you to see if you are a good candidate for dental implants, which is generally driven by good oral health and the presence of adequate bone structure.
