Teeth Whitening Methods in time for Valentine’s Day

Teeth Whitening MethodsOn the most romantic day of the year, no one wants to worry that the object of their affection is staring at their stained, yellowed teeth. Luckily there are several teeth whitening methods available to get you romance-ready by V-Day!

  1. Cheap: Many commercial brands of toothpaste offer whitening strips which can slightly lighten teeth after several days of application.
  2. Natural: In the Middle Ages powdered mint was used as a tooth whitening method. While this can’t really compete with modern technology, mint is nonetheless an option for those who only need to lighten up by a fraction. Bonus! It is also a healthy alternative to chewing gum (no aspartame or sugar!) and leaves you with the same fresh taste and smell.  Just be sure it doesn’t lodge itself in the middle of your front teeth….nothing a sly glance in the mirror can’t help!
  3. Flexible: Bleaching trays can be custom-made for your chompers by your dentist.  Over the course of several days/weeks, depending on severity of stains, you can significantly brighten your teeth at your own pace.
  4. Quick: a one-hour Power Whitening treatment can be carried out by a dental professional and may lighten teeth by 10 shades! This simple and effective method will last for the long haul, assuming you practice good dental hygiene.

Whichever teeth whitening method suits your needs best there are several things to keep in mind afterwards. Post-whitening, be sure to avoid dark beverages (i.e. coffee, tea, soda, etc.), tobacco, and any other food item which may leave dark residue on your freshly brightened teeth. If you absolutely cannot survive without your daily cup of Joe, be sure to brush afterwards, or at least swish with water, to avoid stains.
