We are being told that too much of a good thing can be bad for you, to take and use things in moderation. This is also true when it comes to the usage of denture adhesive. We want your dentures to stay in place for a long time, especially for those all important moments, so patients often use extra denture adhesive to help keep their dentures in place. However, a new study by the University of Maryland researchers warn that zinc in some adhesives can trigger neurological damage and blood abnormalities. When you use too much adhesive trying to keep the dentures in place, the excess adhesive oozes out into the mouth where it is swallowed. Researchers have found that some patients have been exposed to as much as 200 times the recommended daily allowance of zinc.
